Created for Aurochs & Auks, John Burnside’s book of essays on mortality and extinction, I wanted to explore how you might give form to disappearance. Drawn in negative and tonally inverted, animals, bones and human figures acquire an almost tactile, organic texture as they dissolve into deep blackness, caught somewhere between presence, memory and absence.
